The volunteer will assist in writing, editing, and proofreading site content, this person will also work closely with the technical team to maintain site standards with regard to new development. We are seeking a volunteer to help collect Information and to analyse data, on the policy environment and possible improvements specifically to promote bamboo and rattan trade. Duties Collect and collate policy information on bamboo and rattan development. Make a SWOT (Strengthen, weakness, opportunity and threats) analysis of the data. Collect and collate information on international trade policies on B&R products. Help analyse bamboo and rattan trade market data. Qualifications and experience Knowledge of economics, trade, management, ideally as related to the agriculture/forestry sectors. Good quantitative and analytical skills concerning economic development and economic analysis. Excellent English language skills. We are seeking a volunteer to provide assistance in following-up the process (re-launching the internet survey), collecting, recording and analyzing the data. With the grown number of volunteers join the scheme, a computer person is needed to setup and maintain a working environment for summer volunteers and facilitate them on their computer work. Meanwhile, INBAR needs to review and update its contact database, photo database, and other databases. Duties Maintain computer environment during the 2013 Summer volunteers period. INBAR has had a library of bamboo and rattan, and other, publications since its inception, but it is almost never used, and the holdings have not been updated for many years. INBAR is now revitalizing the library, and needs a dedicated and skilled assistant to help us do so. INBARs online information systems are also being updated. Duties Catalogue books and publications in the new library system. Recommend and develop a system for making holdings available to users outside INBAR Help develop the electronic library. Provide assistance with developing content for online information services. Help update the INBAR components of FAO抯 TECA technologies database. Qualifications and experience Knowledge, experience and/or skills of library software and cataloguing systems, and of e-libraries. Excellent English. Excellent attention to detail. Bamboo pests and diseases literature review assistant INBAR is currently producing a literature review of bamboo forestry for publication by the end of the year. One section of the report will cover bamboo pests and diseases. INBAR is seeking an experienced candidate to help draft this section of the report. Duties Collect and collate information from various sources (published scientific papers, grey literature and so on) on pests and diseases of bamboo forests. Working closely with the supervisor(s), produce a draft report. Qualifications and experience Proven academic knowledge of crop pests and/or diseases, knowledge of those that affect bamboo an advantage. Excellent desk research skills.
