报告人介绍:

Eric S. McLamore, professorof Agricultural and Biological Engineering in University of Florida. His research group focuses on development and application of sensor/biosensor technology for solving hypothesis driven research questions in the life sciences. They build optical and electrochemical tools from the nanometer to the millimeter spatial scale, often incorporating biological molecules as an active element (i.e., biosensors). They commonly use a non-invasive technique known as self-referencing, which allows them to measure the transport of molecules across cell membranes and/or tissues. They also build sensors for field applications used in environmental and agricultural research. Their lab is involved in a number of educational activities for communicating research principles to public audiences. Their research group is also actively engaged with the UF Art/Science Collective.

Diana Vanegas is an assistant professor in the School of Food Engineering at Universidad del Valle (Cali, Valle, Colombia). She received her MSc and PhD degrees in Agricultural and Biological Engineering from the University of Florida (Gainesville, FL, USA). Her research interests have interdisciplinary emphasis. Diana’s research is focused on the development of rapid and sensitive bio-nanotechnologies for detection of chemicals, toxins, and bacteria relevant to biological and agricultural applications. She has expanded her work in biosensors and is currently working on using nanotechnologies for the controlled delivery of nutraceuticals and the design of new functional foods.
