摘要:
As the most important class of small silencing RNAs (sRNAs), microRNAs (miRNAs) are canonically considered to be 20-22 nucleotides (nt) in length and guide targets regulation via mRNA degradation or translation inhibition. A class of 24-nt long miRNAs has been characterized as modulators through DNA methylation for gene expression in rice, implying a more complicated miRNA population in plants. Our recent study found a Pooideae-specific miRNA that targets florigen genes and regulates flowering time in Brachypodium under different daylength, suggesting that both conserved and non-conserved miRNAs play critical roles in plant growth and adaptation to the environments.
