一、会议介绍
The potential for utilizing remote sensing technology in assessing forest ecosystems at various levels of resolution is great, and the methods for combining field sampling and remote sensing are very promising and fast developing. Satellite images have been used for a long time, like in the Finnish multi-source NFI. Now, additional technologies like airborne and terrestrial laser scanning are increasingly being used and the potential to combine several data sources are promising. However, it is not evident what statistical designs and modes of inference should be chosen. Model-assisted and model-based approaches are currently being investigated in several countries. These approaches enable statistical inference when utilizing remote sensing in the inventory, including remote sensing data from sample surveys. Also, utilizing semi-parametric or non-parametric approaches in the context of either approach appears to be promising. A selected group of scientists will convene in Beijing during the period 10. - 13. March 2015 to present new work related to large-scale inventories of forest ecosystems in the context outlined above.
